Chloé Op de Beeck (BE)
AT This TIME
July 3, 2018
You are warmly invited for the solo exhibition of Chloé Op de Beeck (BE) where she presents a selection of works made during her stay in Narva.
Before the exhibition opening at 6pm, there will be a public radio broadcast recording of Ööülikool with Heili Sepp.
Recording takes place in Estonian.
Chloé Op de Beeck uses the camera to explore everyday life. She captures moments where reality reveals itself as a decor or scripted environment in which people become characters. Inviting viewers to slow down and contemplate, Op de Beeck’s images show us moments we have forgotten are moments because they are too trivial or too familiar.
Her observations can work in a relativizing or uplifting way and create a renewed way of looking.
The notion of travel is a key instigator of her work. When traveling your senses are sharpened and you live more consciously and intense. You regain a spontaneous interest making you look at reality with fresh eyes. Op de Beeck’s works are registrations of her surroundings often made from this traveler’s perspective in which intuition plays an important role.
