Recap of the Summer Workshop of Estonian Academy of Arts Visual Communication Students at NART

In June, second-year Visual Communication students from the Estonian Academy of Arts (EKA) participated in a summer workshop at NART. Together, they explored ideas of “ingenious vandalism,” collected ethnographic material and created advertising content for the “Re-framing Narva” project.

While gathering visual material, the students explored Narva thoroughly to develop visual outputs for their projects. In their free time they had the opportunity to enjoy communal living at NART’s historic building — cooking, sauna evenings and sleeping in the basement rooms.

During the ESTO Days and Narva Artist’s Days, which took place at the same time, the EKA students visited the historical area of the Kreenholm Textile Factory.

The students are grateful to their supervisors, and guest lecturer Tero Leponiemi for an inspiring experience!
