The Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (ECADC) and the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art invite applications for an artist residency in Gateshead, United Kingdom.
One Estonian artist will have the opportunity to take part in the Baltic|States residency program in England from 2–29 March 2026. In cooperation with the Ministry of Culture, ECADC will cover travel and accommodation expenses, and the artist will receive a one-time grant. All Estonian artists are welcome to apply.
During the one-month residency, the resident will have the opportunity to meet local curators and art professionals, as well as visit art institutions in the region. Participants are invited to share their research and experiences with a wider audience through open studio events, screenings, artist talks, or workshops. The residency offers participating artists a chance to engage in dialogue with the current shifting geopolitical landscape in Europe, exploring themes related to identity and belonging in their work.
The Baltic|States program supports artists from the Baltic region by bringing together art professionals and institutions from two regions. The program began its collaboration with Lithuania in 2019 and expanded to include partners from Estonia and Latvia for the 2023–2025 period. Baltic focuses on experimental and outstanding contemporary art that is impactful and meaningful both on a personal and communal level. The Estonian Contemporary Art Development Center (EKKAK) began its collaboration with the Baltic Center in 2023, and so far, the residency has hosted MARIA KAPAJEVA ja KRISTINA ÕLLEK.
▶︎ The application must be completed in English and submitted via the Google Forms by November 28, 2025.
The applications will be reviewed by an international jury consisting of representatives from the Baltic Center for Contemporary Art and EKKAK. For more information: info@ecadc.ee
