OPEN CALL ⏐“Kunstnikud on kohal” school residencies in Narva ⏐ spring 2026

Last spring, three and six Estonian artists visited border schools in Narva under the leadership of the Narva art residency. Now Targa Tuleviku Fond has provided its support so that the mission can take on an even larger scale. The following artists will be selected for the upcoming season, who will come to Narva for a two-week period. The application deadline is February 8. Each artist will receive a scholarship of €1,000.

Nine Narva schools and 27 active Estonian artists selected through competitions will participate in the project over the course of a year and a half. Each artist will be in residency in the border city and will meet with a group of students for five days to carry out creative activities, crafts, experiments, and discussions. Now in March and April, 9 artists will go to Narva-Jõesuu School, Narva Pähklimäe School, and Narva 6th School. Other schools will participate in the following seasons.

Artists and participating teachers will be supported in preparatory training on language and subject integration, multilingualism and classroom communication. Support will be provided by Anneli Porri from the Estonian Academy of Arts, Hanna-Liis Kont, leader of the “Creative Connections” platform, Christina Lään, LAK trainer, and Anna Golubeva, head of the multilingual education department at University of Tartu Narva College.
