Moments from the colorful events of Javier Mars and Hildegard Reimann at the Narva Venice Embassy

At the beginning of August, Spanish artist Javier Mars and Hildegard Reimann from Tartu stayed at the Narva Venice Embassy, bringing several colorful events to Kulgu. In Hildegard’s workshop themed around aquatic life, participants created animal masks, shared stories about local nature, and explored underwater ecosystems. Javier’s “Vesipääs” was a performative guided tour through the liminal waterscapes of Kulgu. Both artists’ residencies culminated on August 10 with a joint event at the Narva Venice Embassy. Biologist Kaarin Hein led a playful nature walk where participants wore the animal masks made during Hildegard’s workshop. The day concluded with a collective screening of the short film “Vesipääs”, based on the journey-performance, on the Kulgu canal. See the photos!
