Narva Art Residency is pleased to announce a residency opportunity as part of The Estonian Creative Residencies Network (LOORE). This Open Call offers 7-week residencies for Ukrainian and Ukraine-based artists and art professionals affected by the war in Ukraine. The residency is hosted by NART as part of the LOORE network and will take place between Mid-August to late September.
The international artist-in-residence program on Estonia’s North-Eastern border at Narva Art Residency welcomes practitioners from all fields: visual arts, music, performance, architecture, design, film, literature, and curatorial work. The residency aims to foster creative exchange and meaningful engagement with the unique local context of Narva. Artists are encouraged to develop interactive, socially engaged, or community-based projects in which local participation is naturally integrated into the artistic process.
ACCOMMODATION
Residents or duos are provided private rooms. Washing facilities are shared, and a sauna is available. The residency house is lively and frequently hosts events, creating informal opportunities for exchange among artists and locals.
STUDIO
Shared working spaces suitable for a wide range of artistic practices. Residents have unique access to the historic Kreenholm factory complex for research, exploration, and site-specific interventions. For production needs, the residency has a reasonably equipped woodworking workshop, and we assist artists in connecting with local partners and facilities when more specialized tools or equipment are required. We also support residents in organizing public events, and provide help with communication and outreach to the local community and wider audiences.
NETWORKING OPPORTUNITIES
The residency team helps artists build meaningful relationships within the local community and provides support for exhibitions, presentations, and public activities in NART’s gallery spaces or other suitable venues. During warmer months, residents can use bicycles and a small boat to explore Narva and Narva Venice.
APPLICANT REQUIREMENTS
We welcome artists from all disciplines, backgrounds, and stages of their careers. The residency is particularly suitable for practitioners whose work is socially engaged, and who are open to dialogue and collaboration with local communities. Previous experience in community work or participatory practices is an advantage, but not a requirement.

LOORE (The Estonian Creative Residencies Network) was created in response to the expressed need for better representation and collaboration between artist residency organisations across Estonia. With the goal of supporting the mobility of creative people and representing the interests of residency hosts; increasing capacity and influence, and value. It also promotes the sharing of artistic resources and collaboration opportunities across its members.
Thanks to funding from the Estonian Ministry of Culture, we are able to support Ukrainian artists, writers, curators, critics and musicians and other cultural practitioners. During 2026 members of the LOORE network will host artists through a funded residency program, giving artists the opportunity to make use of the different available opportunities of the organisations and the unique networking possibilities, such as visits, workshops, talks and programs in other locations.
