Free of charge

Want to create your very own comic? This January on Thursdays and Sundays  we will host free workshops by our fresh artist-in-residence, German comic artist Elke!

Elke Renate Steiner is a comics creator living and working in Berlin, Germany. She is creating comics and illustrations, drawing LIVE at events and process documentations for

communities. Steiner likes passing on her experiences in workshops. A main part of her comics is dealing with German- Jewish history, Human Rights, Feminism, LGBTIAQ+ and Post-Ost.

In Narva, she will be conducting workshops for adults aimed at creating comics that illustrate the experience of living on the Estonian-Russian border. The workshops are free of charge.  The first half of the workshop will focus on the technical side. Elke will demonstrate how to create a comic– creating a protagonist, expressing mimicry, movement and using text. In the second part of the workshop, everyone will be able to experiment and create their own short comic. She will give the participants all the support and can help them to draw based on their own instructions.

The workshops will take place on Thursdays from 17.00 to 21.00 and Sundays from 13.00 to 17.00. The dates are 12.01, 15.01, 19.01, 22.01, 26.01, 29.01, 2.02. You can participate in one or more sessions, and one is free to leave whenever they get tired.  Pre-registration is required to participate in the workshop: https://forms.gle/7W7iHet6HZPuPuut7
