Caroliina Ladva | “Artists Are Present” (estonia)

26.10 – 08.11.2026

Caroliina Ladva (1997) is an artist based in Estonia working primarily with textiles and textile fibres. Thread is her tool for storytelling, whether in tapestry or beyond. While tapestry is rooted in tradition, Caroliina is drawn to exploring how it can speak in contemporary, innovative ways. Through form, texture, and material, her work traces the space between inner landscapes and the world around us, seeking connections between nature, emotion, and identity. Caroliina is also part of Estonian Textile Artists’ Association.

The aim of her residency is to explore intuitive tapestry weaving through texture, density and emptiness. During the workshop, participants will experiment with yarns of different textures and thicknesses, combining and contrasting their qualities. They will also explore the use of unwoven areas as an additional element in the work. While the process is guided, the choice of colours, shapes and composition remains intuitive and personal. The result is a tactile and visually interesting piece of art.
